Dollie Korinne Bumgardner

Erik Joseph Baez

WARSAW — Two people from Warsaw were recently arrested after a domestic battery incident.

Dollie Korinne Bumgardner, 24; and Erik Joseph Baez, 33, both of 812 E. Arthur St., Warsaw, are each charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On Jan. 1, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a family fight. When the officer arrived, he saw Baez and Bumgardner arguing inside a home. Baez opened the front door and the officer separated Bumgardner and Baez.

According to court documents, when the officer moved Bumgardner to a different room, he saw two children.

Bumgardner told the officer that Baez threw her out of bed while she was sleeping. The officer noticed Bumgardner’s lip was bleeding and asked if she had bit Baez. Bumgardner said she bit Baez because she was thrown to the ground. She also showed the officer a bruise on the inside of her left arm and said it was from Baez grabbing her and dragging her out of bed.

The officer then spoke with the two children, who said both Bumgardner and Baez were fighting with each other, hitting and yelling. One of the children said they saw Baez grab Bumgardner’s arm and also saw Bumgardner hit Baez several times. The child later said they saw Baez grab Bumgardner by the throat and throw her away from him.

Bumgardner and Baez both have already been arrested and released on bond.
