Marco Antonio Montalvo Jimenez III

NORTH WEBSTER — A North Webster man who refused to pull over for a traffic stop, led police on a chase and is now facing multiple charges.

Marco Antonio Montalvo Jimenez III, 35, 221 E. Main St., North Webster, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, a level 6 felony; operating while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor; and operating while intoxicated enhancement, a class D felony.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 9, an officer with the Pierceton Police Department observed a red Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling north on SR 13, at a high rate of speed.

The red Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Jimenez, was traveling 93 mph in a 55 mph zone, police said. The officer also saw Jimenez pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

The officer activated his emergency lights and siren, but Jimenez refused to stop and passed three more vehicles on SR 13, in the area of South Barbee Drive, court paperwork said.

An officer from the North Webster Police Department deployed stop sticks in the area of CR 500N and SR 13, but the Trailblazer went around them and turned east on CR 500N.

Jimenez was followed to CR 850E where he disregarded a stop sign at Backwater Road. He then drove into a parking lot and around the back of a building, almost striking a police vehicle. He then returned to Backwater Road and went east.

Officers were eventually able to trap the Trailblazer in a parking lot in the area of Washington Street and SR 13. Jimenez exited the vehicle and was placed under arrest. Jimenez smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and glassy eyes. He admitted to drinking vodka earlier in the day, court paperwork said.

Jimenez was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
