WARSAW — During a short meeting held last night, June 4, the Warsaw Redevelopment Commission began looking at the 2019 budget.

The only item of new business was to introduce next year’s budget. City Planner Jeremy Skinner informed the board that next year will be project heavy, leaving the budget a little lighter than past years. The big aspects of the upcoming budget include phase two of the CR 300N and the Airport Industrial Park projects.

No action was taken on the proposed budgets. Board members were instructed to review the budgets and direct any questions or comments to Skinner. The budget will need approval at the July meeting.

The board approved an updated agreement with Troyer Group, Mishawaka, for engineering services on phase two of the CR 300N project. Due to the increase of area traffic in recent years, the project has been adjusted since it was originally started. The updated agreements adds the design of the roundabout and complete reconstruction of the road to the project.

The board approved the new contract. The plan is for engineering to be completed this year and for construction to take place in 2019.

The annual farm contract between the commission and Powell Farms introduced last month was once again tabled. The contract has been delayed this year due to upcoming construction in the area. Powell has yet to inform the board if he wishes to farm the land this year.

The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 2.
