Adam Christopher Snyder, 28, of Warsaw, pleaded guilty this week in South Bend District federal court to the felony offense of possession of child pornography. Snyder was arrested earlier this year when a computer contractor found stored photos and video of child pornography on Snyder’s computer’s hard drive.

Snyder, of 115 EMS B48 Ln., Warsaw, was arrested in February by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigators. (See story) Snyder was again arrested in March by federal authorities on the same charges.

The investigation began when Snyder contacted a freelance computer specialist to remove the hard drive from his computer. The freelancer found the images and videos and reported it to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

A search warrant was obtained and the computer was sent to the U.S. Secret Service on Feb. 7 for a forensic investigation. Secret Service agents discovered the images of child pornography that also included adult men having intercourse with infant children.

Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein of South Bend District Court, is recommending the guilty plea be accepted. Parties have 10 days in which to object to the magistrate judge’s recommendation.

Sentencing has been set for Nov. 6.

Also in federal court this week, Scott Reahard, 46, of Wabash, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, $5,000 in restitution and 5 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense of possession of child pornography.

According to documents filed in the case, Reahard possessed a laptop computer and media which contained digital images that depicted child pornography. Reahard admitted to possessing over 600 images, some of which portrayed minors who had not attained the age of 12 years.
